Join us at our worship service, This week’s theme is ‘The Force that Drives the Flower’, led by Mike Rutter. All welcome.

Spring is here and we are all aware of Nature’s return to life and activity. But there is an ambivalence about Nature’s powers, summarised in Dylan Thomas’s poem. The Force that Through the Green Fuse Drives the Flower. Nature signifies decay as well as growth, and predation as well as harmony. this ambivalence is well exemplified in The Force, as shown in the Star Wars films. This has an upward, mystical, Light side, but also a downward, destructive, Dark side. Western theology often contrasts Nature with Spirit or Grace. These opposing perspectives can be reconciled in the worldview of Tantra Yoga and its Chakras, centres of subtle energy, which have to be harmonised en route to personal wholeness and spiritual enlightenment.
