Good Friday 2nd April 7:00 pm Tenebrae Service on Zoom and in the Church
Tenebrae is the Latin word for darkness. The service practised in most Christian churches dates back to the ninth century. This single service, usually on Good Friday, literally takes people into the darkness through a series of scripture readings, music with the use of candles which are extinguished throughout the service. Whilst a very traditional service, it is given a Unitarian twist with music and readings from the Christian traditions. The service will last no longer than 40 minutes and people will leave in silence to ponder the significance of Christ’s death and await the celebration of the resurrection.
Sue Cockerill will be leading this service.
