Sunday Reflection with Anna 6/12

Firstly, for those who may not have heard already, I am sorry to have to share with you the news that Gordon Knight, chair of our hall trustees, and long serving member of our congregation, passed away peacefully in his sleep this Friday morning.  He is going to be greatly missed, both for his knowledge, and his friendship.

 

I had debated changing the service I had already written, as it is quite a lighthearted one, to acknowledge and reflect the grief that we are all feeling at the moment.  But then I realised that Gordon would probably be the last one to suggest that – instead, he would remind us what he had told me often, that he knew that his time could be called at any moment, and that when it happened he would have no regrets, because he had loved every bit of his life and knew just how blessed he had been.  And I remembered his love for jokes, and for laughter, and for fun, and for drama – and so I am continuing with the service as planned, and if we cry as we laugh, so be it, we will do so in his honour.
